Short term accommodation (STA) respite services are designed to give both NDIS participants and their informal support a well-earned break.
A participant gets a chance to be exposed to a new environment, trying new things and developing new skills, while the carer gets a break and a chance to rest from their usual role.
It’s important to note that respite care does not only include accomodation, but it also involves the support and exposure to new activities the participant receives in their new environment. While in respite care a participant can be involved in capacity building group activities such as group fitness activities or day trips to interesting places.
